The Erasmus+ Programme offers SligoCFE students the opportunity to apply to work abroad (usually for a three week period). Placements will be arranged with employers in the host country with support from SligoCFE. You can experience living in another culture, enjoy travelling, improve language skills, gain a Europass Qualification, add this experience to your CV and get that valuable job. Students will have the opportunity to complete placements in their vocational area in Kempten & Hamelin (Germany), Fougères (France), Playa de Las Américas & Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Tenerife), Barcelona & Malaga (Spain) & Brussels (Belgium).
Placements normally take place during the academic year September-May. If your application to work aboard is successful, you will qualify for a grant towards the cost of the mobility programme including travel, accommodation and living expenses. In addition you will receive language and cultural preparation prior to departure.

Jessica Lalwani - Classroom Language Assistant - Cadiz Spain
My name is Jessica and I’m from Roscommon. I studied hairdressing in Sligo College of Further Education and really loved it. It really helped me get my foot in the door for hopefully a long and successful future working in the salon. At the end of my first year I received an email from the college regarding an opportunity to go to the south of Spain for a year and work as a classroom language assistant. There was just no way I wasn't applying! So I did the interview and got the job and arrived in sunny Cadiz in Spain at the end of August. I have no regrets whatsoever. I’ve had such a fantastic year. There are eight Classroom Assistants and it is so much fun to live and work together. We work with 2-5 year olds who are just the sweetest! The rest of the Early Years staff are so friendly and helpful which makes a wonderful working environment. Our duties include, encouraging the kids with their school work, supervising play time, assisting teachers with class preparation, guiding the kids to improve their english language development and loads more. Although this job has nothing to do with my goal of being a hairdresser, I am so grateful that I had the chance to pick up many skills like communication with colleagues, time keeping, handling big responsibilities and so much more, that I will definitely be able to take with me into my future career. Also, we are so well looked after by the school. We get an amazing big house and pool, bikes, cleaning and maintenance of the house, spanish lessons, groceries, use of the school van and so much more. So I would definitely recommend the El Centro Ingles Classroom Language Assistant Programme for anyone looking to gain some valuable skills, life experience, meet new people or just to enjoy a year in the Spanish sun!
